4th Place: Chevrolet Uplander

A minivan is the best way to carry a large number of passengers, no matter how flawed the design. Which is the only way that the near-universally criticized Uplander (or any of the three pricier clones also sold by GM) has ever managed to come out in the top half of a comparison test: beating non-minivans. (The Uplander placed last in the IFCAR minivan comparison.) For while it rides and handles poorly and has less passenger and cargo space than most other minivans, the sheer usability of three comfortably-sized rows of seats and a vast cargo area are still enough to make it a better choice for inexpensive passenger hauling than the superior vehicles it outranks here.
