8th Place: Chevrolet Impala

Like the Colorado, the Impala makes its way into this group by offering an unusable front bench seat that boosts the theoretical passenger capacity to six. But, being a passenger car and roomier inside than the Colorado, it comes closer to adequacy as a passenger-hauler. It rides comfortably and quietly, has good interior quality, and has usable acceleration and good gas mileage. Unfortunately, its rear seat is tight even for a family sedan, making the two or three passengers there less comfortable than competitors that are smaller outside, including Chevrolet’s own Malibu.

But none have a third front seatbelt, a feature which makes the Impala eligible for this comparison but not usable for carrying anyone with any business being in the front seat.
